FAQs
I have been trying to get pregnant for 2 years. Can Dr Kalpana Gupta help?
Yes. She is a Fellow in ART (ICOG), which means she is specially trained in fertility treatments. She will first do basic tests for you and your partner (sperm analysis, egg reserve, tubes, etc.). Depending on the cause, she may suggest medicines, IUI, or IVF. Don’t lose hope that many couples have succeeded under her care.
Does Dr Kalpaana Gupta speak Gujarati?
Yes. She speaks English, Marathi, Hindi, and Gujarati. So your mother or mother-in-law who prefers Gujarati can talk to her comfortably.
I had a C-section in my first pregnancy. Can I have a normal delivery now?
Yes, sometimes it does depend on how well your scar heals, baby position, and your health. Doctor Kalpaana Gupta will carefully examine you. If she determines that you are a suitable candidate for a vaginal birth after cesarean, she will encourage you. However, if there is any risk, she will advise you to undergo another C-section.
I have fibroids. Does that mean I will need a hysterectomy?
Not necessarily. According to Dr Kalpana Gupta, the size, location, and number of fibroids are first established. If they are not causing symptoms, all you need to do is undergo regular monitoring. In case of large fibroids and excessive bleeding, she may opt for myomectomy, which involves only the removal of fibroids and not the uterus. Hysterectomy would be considered in cases where there is no hope of further fertility and when other options fail. Dr Gupta will never force you to undergo surgery.
What is pelvic floor repair? Why do I need it?
TOT surgery is used to treat stress incontinence, where you have urine leakage when you laugh, cough, sneeze, or exercise. This is quite common among women who have had childbirth or those going through menopause. In TOT surgery, a small tape is placed under the urethra for support. This procedure takes only 30-40 minutes and helps most women be completely dry. Consult Dr Gupta if this sounds familiar.
