What is the procedure for a CRP test?
C-reactive protein is determined using a blood sample drawn from a vein.
This sample of blood was taken from your arm. The blood samples can be collected in the hospital, clinic laboratory, or at home. If you want to take the test at home, go to the Mine app and look for the CRP test.
- The blood sample will be collected from a vein in your arm by a phlebotomist.
- A tourniquet made of rubber will be wrapped around your upper arm.
- After the tourniquet is applied, you may be asked to pump your fist a few times to find the vein.
- An alcohol swab will be used to clean the region before placing the needle into the vein.
- Wipe.
- The needle is inserted to obtain the blood sample when the region has dried.
