What is D-Dimer test?
The D-Dimer test detects the presence of D-Dimer, a protein fragment formed when a blood clot dissolves, in the blood. This test is used to diagnose blood clotting disorders, as well as pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. When someone has symptoms such as difficulty breathing or chest pain, the test is frequently performed.
If your results show levels that are higher than normal, you should consult your doctor to see if you have a clotting disorder or another medical condition.
